MEDIEVAL HISTORICAL ARCHERY
Archery is a discipline that takes those who use it back in time, starting with the bow up to clothing, a real throwback. Above all, the historical arc is a philosophy that helps to develop the ability to harmonize one’s psychic and physical gifts. With extreme concentration, the shot is executed by following with the eye the flight of the arrow along its trajectory, up to the center of the target. Only when you are able to master the bow easily will your mind be free enough to execute the instinctive shot and achieve the necessary concentration to hit the target. In this challenge, each district will participate with 3 archers who will compete at night

MOVE TO THE TOWER
The “Mossa alla Torre” is an original, compelling and pressing competition, conceived in compliance with social and sporting rules, characterized by a “machine” – the tower – decorated with local symbols, which, moved to determine the victory of a of the two teams, sees the districts face off two by two in a competition of physical strength aimed at eliminating the rival team through tactics, muscular energy and cooperation.

The challenge in Corso Vannucci
RACE OF THE DRAP
The “Drape Race” involves a race of speed and endurance. The goal is to deliver, before the others, a witness at the point of arrival, coinciding with that of departure, in order to score the highest possible number of points. The race takes place along Corso Vannucci and around the Fontana Maggiore along an established route that includes four changes per team, one per lap, for a total of five laps.

Precision, technique, physical strength and visual calculation
THE SHOOTING JAVELIN
(until 2019)
The javelin shooting, erroneously called “throwing”, completely deviates from the modern conception of the Olympic sport of the same name, purely centered on muscle strength and running. In the context of “Perugia 1416” in javelin shooting, shooters must combine precision and technique with physical strength and visual calculation, in order to succeed in the perfect execution of a harmonious shot that slips a ring while it is aimed at the target.

Regulation
Three days of challenges during which the five districts will face each other by fielding the best athletes, the most convincing characters, the most splendid beauties in fifteenth-century costumes. The Palio will be won by the district that will have scored the highest score at the end of the competitions.
